Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily increase the temperature of scraps up to a high value to curtail the melting and smelting time and improve the productivity by a method wherein a gas finishing a primary preheating is heated at a decomposition furnace to heighten its temprature, and then, a secondary preheating is conducted by utilizing said gas.
CONSTITUTION: A preheating gas 4 discharged from an electric furnace 1 as a melting furnace in a combustion furnace 3 is introduced into a preheater 5 and scraps contained therein are preheated. A gas 6 whose temperature has been lowered is heated in a heat exchanger 7 as it contains combustible components such as oil components and the like mixed in the scraps and odor components such as plastics and the like and then introduced into a decomposition furnace 8. The gas burnt and decomposed in the decomposition furnace 8 is introduced into a preheater 5' through a pipeline 14, and secondary preheating of the scraps which has passed through the primary heating is performed in the preheater 5. A gas 15 after passing through the secondary preheating is heated. The gas 15 after subjecting to a secondary preheating is used in a heat exchanger 7 for heating the gas 6 which has been preheated to a lower temperature, and then discharged into atmospheric air through a gas cooler 16 and a dust collector 17 etc.
