Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent blow-by of high temperature combustion gas and to heat the cold charge layer uniformly by laying limestone or mixture of quick lime and limestone on the bottom of a converter and charging the cold charge on the layer, and heating from the bottom tuyeres. CONSTITUTION:Before charging the cold charge 12, limestone or mixture 16 of quick lime and limestone equivalent to 1-40kg per 1t of cold charge 12 is charged. Then, the cold charge 12 is charged on the lime layer and the charge is heated using bottom tuyeres 10. The charged lime 16 forms a lime layer on the bottom tyeres 10, and at the same time, covers the bottom 6 including refractory 15 around the tuyeres to protect the refractory from high temperature combustion gas and reversed current of oxygen. Further, a large amount of thermo-decomposed gaseous CO2 is generated and as a dispersion accelerator of high temperature gas. Thus, blow-by is prevented and the cold charge is heated uniformly.
