Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase production of carbon black with increasing the raw material feed without expanding the scale of the equipment, by bypassing a part of the air for combustion preheated at high temperature, thereby suppressing the melt damage of the inner liners, raw material-blowing pipes, etc. caused by the high temperature combustion gas.
CONSTITUTION: In the production of carbon black in the furnace process, the temperature of the product mixture immediately after thermal cracking is rapidly decreased to 850°C by directly spraying cold water. The air for combustion preheated to about 650°C by heat exchange with the quenched mixture, is introduced from the air inlet 8 of the reaction furnace, passed between the outer shell 1 and the inner shell 2 to raise the temperature to 700°C, and fed to the top of the inner shell 2. One third of the whole amount of the air is introduced from the space 24 with the shunt plate 20 and run along the inner wall of the lining 12 to protect the lining 12 from melt damage caused by the high temperature gas resulting from the combustion of the fuel sprayed from the cyclic burner 30.
