Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a high conductivity of lithium ions even at room temperature by using a solid electrolyte consisting of lithium nitride, lithium iodide and lithium hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:Using lithium nitride(Li2N), lithium iodide (LiI) and lithium hydroxide(LiOH) as raw materials, they are proportional and ground while mixing the same. The mixture is heated and fired to form a solid electrolyte. A preferable composition of these three components is obtained by choosing a composition from the regions A and B in the figure. Hydrates of Li2N and NiI may also be employed. Since the crystal water of these hydrates reacts with a part of Li2N to form LiOH and NH3, they bring about the same effect as Li2N, LiI and LiOH are used. By doing so, it is possible to obtain a solid electrolyte having a high lithium ion conductivity even at room temperature. Since the decomposition voltage of the solid electrolyte is high, it can be advantageously incorporated in lithium batteries. Its production in easy as it can be fired at lower temperatures.
