Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the utilization rate as well as the preservation performance of a positive electrode for an organic-solvent battery, by employing nickel oxyhydroxide which has undergone a heat treatment at a given temperature. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 1 is prepared by mixing nickel oxyhydroxide, which has undergone a heat treatment at a temperature of 110-250 deg.C, with both a flake graphite or the like as a conductive agent and a polytetrafluoroethylene or the like as a binder, and by compressing and molding this mixture into pellets. Through this means, the removal of the water which is contained in gamma-NiOOH or the like is assured. Accordingly, the preservation characteristics of an organic-solvent battery are remarkably enhanced, and the discharge characteristics right after the manufacture of the battery are also enhanced.
