Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture an anode for a non-aqueous electrolyte battery which has an increased moldability and provides an increased battery performance by adding and kneading both a conductive agent and a binding agent into manganese dioxide before the mixture is dried, subjecting the mixture to heat treatment at a given temperature, and crushing the mixture before the pulverized mixture is molded. CONSTITUTION:After electrolytic manganese dioxide is sintered at 350-400 deg.C and dried, it is mixed with a conductive agent such as graphite or acetylene black, and is added and kneaded with an aqueous suspension of polytetrafluoroethylene used as a binding agent. Next, the kneaded mixture is dried and subjected to heat treatment at 300-360 deg.C so as to make the polytetrafluoroethylene binding agent to be molten and crystallized as fine threads and to make a dispersing agent such as a surfactant contained in the binding agent to be completely dispersed. After that, this mixture is pulverized, and an anode body is molded from the pulverized mixture. By the means mentioned above, the moldability can be increased, and a molded anode body which has small variations and an excellent discharge characteristic can be obtained.
