Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the process for manufacturing positive electrodes and improve the performance of a nonaqueous electrolyte cell by mixing the powder of positive electrode active substance and conductive carbon powder and kneading said mixed powder with the aqueous solution of binder, forming said mixture into granule form, and putting said granules into press-molding process. CONSTITUTION:Aqueous solution of the binder such as polyacrylic acid (salt) etc. is added into the mixed powder of conductive carbon powder and the powder of the positive electrode activating substance such as baked manganese dioxide etc., and the mixture is kneaded, formed into granules, and dried, then a pelletized black mix is formed. A fixed amount of pelletized black mix is taken, press-molded to form a positive electrode black mix pellet. In this method, as the pelletized black mix has a nearly round form and fluidity, charging and transfer into a mold is facilitated. Further, the black mix pellet is more porous than the conventional powder molding, and the content of electrolyte is increased, and the discharge capacity can be improved.
