Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the leakage resistance and the discharge characteristic of a battery by heating into gelation a mixture of polymethyl methacrylate and a solution dissolving solutes in organic solvents including propylene carbonate with the same specific gravity as that of polymethyl methacrylate. CONSTITUTION:Solutes, such as LiClO4, LiBF4, LiAsF6, and LiPF6, etc. are dissolved in a solution which propylene carbonate solution is mixed with organic solvents, such as gamma-butyrolactone, 1,2-dimethoxy-ethane, tetrahydrofuran, and 1,3-dioxolan, etc. to produce an electrolyte with about the same specific gravity as that of a gelatinizer polymer made of polymethyl methacrylate. This electrolyte is mixed with polymethyl methacrylate, and they are heated into gelation.
