Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the explosion or firing of a battery without sacrifice of decrease in performance by using a nonaqueous electrolyte prepared by dissolving a specific solute in a mixed solvent of a specific organic solvent and sulfolane in a nonaqueous electrolyte battery using lithium or sodium. CONSTITUTION:A nonaqueous electrolyte prepared by dissolving LiCF3SO3 as solute in a mixed solvent of sulfolane and one organic solvent selected from dimethoxyethane, tetrahydrofuran, diethoxyethane, 2-methyldioxolane, 4- methyldioxolane, and dioxolane is used to form a lithium battery. Since LiCF3SO3 is stable against the organic solvents, explosion or firing, which may be caused when LiClO4 is used, is prevented, and conductivity is also increased. A safety, stable nonaqueous electrolyte battery can be obtained without sacrifice of decrease in performance.
