Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the explosion or firing of a battery without sacrifice of decrease in performance by using a nonaqueous electrolyte prepared by dissolving a specific solute in specific solvents in a nonaqueous electrolyte battery using lithium or sodium. CONSTITUTION:A nonaqueous electrolyte prepared by dissolving LiPF6 or LiBF4 as solute in a mixed solvent of sulfolane and one organic solvent selected from dimethoxyethane, diethoxyethane, 2-methyldioxolane, and 4-tetrahydrofuran is used to form a nonaqueous electrolyte battery. Since LiPF6 and LiBF4 are stable against the organic solvent, explosion or firing, which may be caused when LiClO4 is used, is prevented, and conductivity is also increased. A safety, stable nonaqueous electrolyte battery can be obtained without sacrifice of decrease in performance.
