Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase safety and to make handling easy without sacrifice of practicality by using a mixed solvent of high dielectric constant organic solvent having a specific dielectric constant and a low viscosity organic solvent having a specific flashpoint in a nonaqueous electrolyte battery using lithium or sodium. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte prepared by dissolving one electrolyte selected from LiCF3SO3, LiPF6, LiAsF6, and LiClO4 in a mixed solvent of a high dielectric constant organic solvent having a dielectric constant of 30 or more at 20 deg.C and a low viscosity organic solvent having a flashpoint of 30 deg.C or more is used to form a battery. The danger of explosion or firing is remarkably decreased with conductivity adequately retained. A nonaqueous electrolyte battery which is safety and easy to handle can be obtained without sacrifice of practicality.
