Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve hardness and heat radiation effect of a metal part, by applying steam nitriding treatment to surfaces of the metal part with an influence to the progress of an electron beam and forming a porous oxidized film in the outermost layer and a nitrogen infiltrated layer below said film. CONSTITUTION:A metal part, for instance, shadow mask 3 is placed on a treatment jig 13 and set in a steam nitriding treatment furnace 14. To surfaces of the shadow mask 3, steam nitriding treatment is applied while controlling a power source 17 with a temperature controller 16. Then the shadow mask 3 is taken out to the outside from the furnace. A porous oxidized film in the outermost layer of the surface in the taken out shadow mask 3 and a nitrogen infiltrated layer below said film enriched by nitrogen and oxygen are formed respectively.
