CONSTITUTION:Powder of carbon steel contg. >=0.7% C is coated on the surface of a steel material contg. Si. Next, for example, a chammotte-SiO2-metallic powder- SiC-mica-colloidal silica-water solubele resin type antioxidant is coated on this steel material coated with the carbon steel powder. Thence, it is heated to, for example, 1,400 deg.C, and is carburized while decarburization is being prevented. According to this method, the high-carbon steel powder sticks by fusion on the way of heating, and the C atoms in the carbon steel migrates to the Si-contg. steel. Namely, the C exists not in the form of single substance but in the form of alloy and is therefore difficult to turn into carbon oxide, hence the efficiency of carburizing is high.
