Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a creation of a suction negative pressure and reduce a loss of power by providing an auxiliary opening-or-closing valve whose motion is synchronized with a turning of an engine, at the upstream side of a suction valve so as to suck air only while both the suction valve and the auxiliary opening-or-closing valve are opened.
CONSTITUTION: An auxiliary opening-or-closing valve 18 which is actuated synchronously with a running of an engine is provided in a suction passage 12 at the upstream side of a suction valve 7. Sucking an air into a combustion chamber 5 is performed only while both the suction valve 7 and the auxiliary opening-or-closing valve 18 are opened. When an acceleration pedal as an actuator 20 is stepped, a push pull wire 28 pulls an arm 27 to turn to a certain point. The auxiliary opening- or-closing valve 18 is synchronously turned to the same point and its phase is changed so that a closing time of the valve is delayed to increase a suction flow. Therefore, a suction of air cannot be performed unless both the suction valve 7 and the auxiliary opening or closing valve 18 are opened. As a suction negative pressure is not created inside the suction passage 12 even in a suction stroke and an air in it may be kept approximately at an atmospheric pressure, a power loss is low and an effective output power of an engine 1 can be increased.
