Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a response delay of an exhaust gas circulation valve when it is closed, by opening or closing the exhaust gas circulation valve by a negative pressure in a vacuum tank and correctively controlling the negative pressure by means of a governor valve, thereby improving an output power performance when an operation is changed to an all-cylinder operation.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder number control engine contains a control circuit 2 which regulates the number of fuel supply cylinders according to loads of an internal combustion engine and a cut-off valve 6 which cuts off an inoperative-cylinder's suction passage 5. Diaphragm devices 11, 12 of the cut-off valve 6 and an exhaust gas circulation valve 10 operate on a negative pressure sent from a vacuum tank 13 via three-way solenoid valves 14, 15, respectively. A governor valve 23 is disposed on the way of a negative pressure passage 22. When an operation is changed to an all-cylinder operation, a closing of the exhaust gas circulation valve is instantly performed in response to a change-over of the three-way solenoid valve 15. The cut- off valve 6 is opened by changing over the three-way solenoid valve 14 to recirculate an exhaust gas. Rework of inoperative cylinders #4W#6 has no effect on the performance of a power generation.
