Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform oxygen dissolution into liquid effectively and enhance water treatment efficiency by shortening the residence time of the liquid in a pipe in which a deoxidation phenomenon occurs and prolonging the residence time of the liquid in a pipe in which an oxygen dissolution phenomenon occurs. CONSTITUTION:Within the water depth range of B5-D5 of a deep shaft 1, the sectional area is made large and the residence time of liquid is made long, and within the water depth range of D5-B5, the sectional area is made small and the residence time of liquid is made short. Waste water is supplied from a line 2 into the shaft 1 via a head tank 6, is mixed with air supplied from a line 3 in the shaft 1, circulates in the shaft 1 by way of the head tank 6 and during this time, it is subjected to activated sludge treatment. Part thereof is taken out by over flow (line 4) from the tank 6 and another waste water is supplied as much as it is discharged. The treated water taken out from the line 4 is divided to sludge and clean water, and part of the sludge is returned as return sludge from the line 5 into the shaft 1.
