Abstract
PURPOSE: To strip fat microbes efficiently from particles by forming the ascending flow and descending flow circulating in a device, supplying high-concn. oxygen to the descending flow and making the velocity of the descending flow higher than the ascending velocity of oxygen bubbles.
CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical partition wall 3 is disposed at the center of a waste water treating tank 1, and waste water 5 and high-concn. oxygen 7 are supplied into the descending flow part 9 in the wall 3. The microbes which are stuck on particles such as sand, active carbon or coke are beforehand held afloat across from the top end part of the wall 3 or from slightly below the same to the bottom of the tank 1, in the space sandwiched by the tank 1 and the wall 3, thereby forming fluid layers. The waste water having absorbed oxygen in the descending flow part gives BOD components to the microbe-stuck particles in the ascending flow part. The particles stuck with the grown and fat microbes go beyond the top end of the wall 3, and are included in the descending flow, by which part of the microbes are stripped by fluid shearing forces.
