Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare L-lysine in high yield, by culturing a variant of L-lysine- producing bacteria belonging to Brevibacterium genus, etc. and resistant to N-2- thenoyl-methionine or N-lauroyl leucine.
CONSTITUTION: An N-2-thenoyl-methionine-resistant or N-lauroyl leucine-resistant variant is induced from L-lysine-producing bacteria belonging to Brevibacterium genus or Corynebacterium genus, by irradiating with UV radiation or treating with a mutagenic agent such as N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine, etc. The variant is aerobically cultured in an ordinary nutrient medium at 24W37°C and pH5W9 for 2W7 days. L-lysine is separated from the medium, in high yield, by treating with an ion exchange resin, etc.
