Abstract
PURPOSE: A microorganism in Corynebacterium, requiring acetic acid and producing the titled substance, is aerobically cultured in a liquid medium containing an aliphatic alcohol or fatty acid and saccharides to produce the titled substance in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: A microorganism in Corynebacterium, requiring acetic acid, such as Crynebacterium acetoacidphilum AJ11602 or Crynebacterium glutamicum AJ 11603 is cultured in a liquid medium. To the culture medium are added a substance that can satisfy its acetic acid requirement such as acetic acid, propionic acid, an aliphatic alcohol as well as carbon sources such as the above substance, nitrogen sources such as an ammonium salt and trace-amount nutritions and the cultivation is effected aerobically. L-glutamic acid is collected from the fermentation mixture by the ion-exchange resin method or the like.
