Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a steel plate for coin with softness and remarkably low cold rolling ridging by rolling a ferriic stainless steel slab under a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:A ferritic stainless steel slab containing C<=0.02%, Si<=0.3%, Mn<=0.3%, P<=0.04%, Ni<=0.3%, Cr;12-18%, N<=0.02% (but, C+N<=0.03%) is subjected to hot rolling so as to adjust a finishing temperature to below 800 deg.C to make a steel plate and this steel plate is cooled by water immediately after hot rolling, thereafter wound at a temperature of below 450 deg.C. This treated steel plate is subjected to annealing-cold-rolling-annealing to produce a cold rolled plate with thickness of about 1.5mm. This stainless steel plate is subjected to the above described heat treatment to obtain a stainless steel plate for coin with hardness Hv of below 135 and remarkably low cold rolling ridging. Because the hardness is low, a wearing amount of a working tool during coin manufacturing is reduced.
