Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the function of engine brake and the effect of fuel saving by fully closing intake valve at the time of the deceleration of engine in an engine in which the opening period of intake valve can be changed.
CONSTITUTION: When rotating the throttle lever 14 to the left, the pistons 16 and 17 of the oil pressure controller 11 move to the left, whereupon the opening 26 of the valve 19 is changed correspondingly and an oil pressure is produced according to the turning amount of the lever 14. By the oil pressure, the piston 9 and the cam shaft 3 are moved, the position of contact between the three-dimentional cam 5 and the intake valve 4 is changed, and the opening period of the intake valve 4 is altered. When reaching deceleration condition under which revolving number is high and the throttle valve 34 is closed at a time when the contact between the cam 5 and the valve 4 is in low-load region L or high-load region H, the switch 42 and the revolving number switcher 43 are closed, the oil pressure releasing valve 40 is operated to lower the oil pressure of the circuits 24 and 22, the intake valve 4 comes into contact with the deceleration position C, and the intake valve 4 is fully closed.
