Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce pumping loss as well as raise combustion characteristic in low- load region by controlling intake throttle valve so as to keep intake negative pressure constant in low-load region by controlling the amount of intake air by varying the opening period of intake valve.
CONSTITUTION: When rotating the throttle lever 13 to the left, the pistons 16 and 17 move to the left and then the valve 63 is opened and an oil pressure is produced. By the oil pressure, the cam shaft 3 moves to the left with the piston 9. According to the moving amount, the contact position between the cam 5 and the intake valve 4 is changed and then the opening period of the intake valve 4 is changed. When negative pressure is produced at the downstream of the intake throttle valve 34, the diaphragm valve 36 is moved downwards by the negative pressure, the valve 34 is opened, and the pressure of intake air is kept constant. An oil pressure produced at the valve 19 pushes the piston 45, where when load is great, the oil pressure becomes greater and the throttle valve 34 is fully opened.
