Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance a charging efficiency of intake air, by constructing and arranging an air space, linked to the intake pipe in a prescribed rotational speed range, in the intake pipe of the internal combustion engine, and operating an inertia supershrging in its rotational speed range. CONSTITUTION:To a combustion chamber 8, in the top portion of a piston 9, is linked an intake path 1 through an intake valve 5. To this path 1, is linked an air space 2, having a prescribed capacity, through a switching valve 4. The switching valve 4 is opened when in a range of maximum rotational speed or in a generation of maximum torque of the engine by a controller not shown in the drawing. And in this period, the intake path capacity is increased, and an inertia supercharging is operated by an intake air flow.
