Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable operation force to be transmitted by means of a simple structure by positioning the center line of the shaft of a rocker arm so as to conicide with the intersecting line formed by a plane vertical to the valve shaft of an intake and exhaust valve and the plane parallel to a cam shaft.
CONSTITUTION: When a passage 4 and a valve 5 are arranged so that the center line of an intake and exhaust valve 5 passes on the center M of curvature of the inner wall surface 2 of a semi-spherical type combustion chamber, the sections area of the passage can be kept large and intake and exhaust efficiency can be increased. The center line of a rocker arm 14 is positioned on the intersecting line formed by the plane vertical to the valve shaft 7 and the plane parallel to a cam shaft 12, and the sliding contact surface 17 of the rocker arm 15 is contacted with a cam 13, and the valve 15 is driven by an adjusting screw 18 at the top end. Arranging the rocker arm shaft 14 as described above, the tapped valve mechanism is simplified, and the installation of intake and exhaust valves more than one pair is facilitated.
