Abstract
PURPOSE: To conduct exhaust gas reflux (EGR) in a low-load low-revolution operation range of a compression ignition type internal-combustion engine and to reduce knocking and vibration of the engine by communicating suction and exhaust passages of the engine by an EGR passage fitted with an on-off valve and opening the valve fully in the operation range.
CONSTITUTION: Suction and exhaust pipes 1 and 2 of an engine are communicated by an EGR passage 4 fitted with an on-off valve 6. A control lever 8 of a fuel injection pump 7 is provided with a position detector switch 9 which contacts the lever 8 when the opening of the lever 8 exceeds a predetermined degree. With the lever 8 in contact with the switch 9, solenoid valves 3a and 6a are driven, and a throttle valve 3 in the pipe 1 and the valve 6 are operated. In a low-load low- revolution operation of the engine, the valve 3 is closed and the valve 6 opened, and EGR is conducted. Since a sufficient amount of oxygen is contained in the exhaust gas in this operation range, knocking or the like is reduced effectively and engine stability is kept high irrespective of EGR.
