Abstract

PURPOSE: To lessen a pumping loss in an intake stroke of an engine and improve its fuel consumption at low load, by providing a throttle valve, operated with an interlocking motion to an accelerator pedal, in a return passage of the second intake valve.
CONSTITUTION: Another return passage 2, provided independently of an exhaust passage 8 and intake passage 9, is open at a combustion chamber 10, then in its opening end are provided an exhaust valve 7, the first intake valve 6 and the second intake valve 1. While in the return passage 2 a return throttle valve 3 is provided, which is linked to an accelerator pedal through a rod 5 connected to a shaft end of the throttle valve 3. The return throttle valve 3 is fully opened at low load of an engine, then mixture of a maximum flow rate, sucked to the combustion chamber 10 by a fully opening action of the first intake valve 6, reversely flows in thr return passage 2 through the second intake valve 1, thus the mixture left in the combustion chamber 10 is compressed, ignited and exploded when the second intake valve 1 is closed.
