Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the charging potentials of the portions corresponding to dark parts at the time of both the first and second and subsequent exposures from becoming excessive by performing controlling of the charging to be done sumultaneously with the second and subsequent exposures through provision of a control electrode in the specified position and application of voltage of the specified value.
CONSTITUTION: A corona discharging electrode 22 is provided within a grounded guard electrode 21 opposing to the photoconductor layer 2 on a drum conductor 1 and high voltage is applied. The light for the second image exposure is radiated onto the photoconductor layer 2 through the spacing between this corona discharge electrode 22. The above are the constitution of a simultaneously charging Corotron but a control electrode 23 is provided between the corona discharge electrode 22 of the simultaneously charging Corotron and the photoconductor layer 2 and if the potential of this control electrode is set slightly higher than the normal potential V0 of the dark parts, the charging potentials may be suppressed to about V0 even in the portions corresponding to the dark parts in both the first and second image exposures.
