Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance a memory effect due to one exposure in order to enable successive formation of several hundred copies, by providing a barrier layer having a speficied composition between a conductive substrate and a photoconductive layer.
CONSTITUTION: A polymer such as polybutadiene and a component such as manganese acetate are dissolved or dispersed in a proper solvent at a weight ratio of 1.0:0.05W0.5 and coated on conductive substrate 3 composed of support 1 and conductive layer 2 and dried to form 1W2 μm thick barrier layer 4. Then, photoconductive layer 5 is formed on this. Photoreceptor 6 formed thus is charged on layer 5 positively or negatively by corona discharge and the voltage of nonimage area is rendered zero by imagewise exposure. Next, only the image part is charged by positive charging, and this is developed and transferred. After that, positive charging, development, and transfer are repeated and a plurality of copies are obtained from the same original.
