Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the measuring accuracy by forming a piston or a piston rod with a zero or span adjusting optical path at its leading end. CONSTITUTION:A piston rod 4 is formed at its leading end with a zero adjusting optical path 10, which in turn is formed with an aperture charged with transparent glass or clean water, and with a span adjusting optical path 11 which acts as a light reducing element of color or ground glass or a slit of suitable size. Through the piston rod 4, therefore, a piston 3 is moved up and down to inhale a sample sludge into a sample chamber 5, and a light is projected from a projector 6 toward a receiver 7 thereby to accomplish the concentration detection. When fine particles in the sample sludge are caught on the inner wall of a transparent tube 1, the position of a piston 3 is so adjusted as to make the projected light pass through the zero adjusting optical path 10. Thus, the zero adjustment of the measuring circuit is performed. If the span adjusting optical path 11 is placed in the optical path, the span adjustment according to the transmissivity is accomplished. Therefore, it is possible to continue the consentration measurments of high accuracy without any error.
