Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the arc break of plasma arc and enable a large amount of deposition to be obtained by heating a welding rod and letting the same arrive at the arc part.
CONSTITUTION: The welding rod 5 fed by feed rollers 5 is fed within an opposite- polarity plasma arc 3 in the state where it is heated or partly melted by the arc 8 generated from a TIG welding torch 6. Then, it achieves perfect melting with a slight plasma heat source and melts in the peripheral part of the plasma arc 3. The molten state is freely controlled by increasing or decreasing the current of the TIG welding arc 8. Since this prevents the unmolten welding rod 5 from entering the central part of the plasma arc 3, the cathode point of the plasma arc 3 is formed on the built-up metal and shifting of the cathode point to the welding rod 5 is obviated. Hence, the plasma arc 3 may be reached to the front of the material 2 to be welded.
