Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve cleaning effect and perform build-up welding free from lack of fusion by feeding a welding rod from the direction of not hampering the cleaning effect in the forward of the welding advance direction.
CONSTITUTION: Build-up welding is accomplished while moving a welding torch 10 in the welding advance direction of an arrow, and build-up weld beads 16 are formed backward of the arc 20. Thereupon, a welding rod is fed from the the direction of not intefering the cleaning effect in the forward of the welding advance direction, that is, toward the arc 20 from the outside of the range of each 30° on the right and left in the forward of the advance direction of the welding torch 10. Thereby, the cleaning effect in the forward of the welding advance direction is sufficiently accomplished without being hampered by the welding rod, and the globule having dropped onto the welding base metals 12 instantaneously spreads, thus the build-up welding of high quality which is good in fit, is free from lack of fusion and is shallow in penetration is accomplished. In this case, the same effect is obtained if the feed direction of the welding rod is outside the range of each 30° on the right and left.
