Abstract

PURPOSE: To minimize defects such as blow hole by a proper welding in every possible attitude with a pulse overlapping a plasma arc current between a non- consumable electrode and work.
CONSTITUTION: In an arc welding, a DC current of dropping characteristics flows between a non-consumable electrode 2 and a work while a plasma arc current is overlapped with a pulse to be transformed into a pulse current. Consequently, the wire current flowing through a wire 5 takes the form of a pulse. However, the current becomes constant in its level as a whole, hence affording a constant energy. As a result, the wire is heated and melted so uniformly when fed in a constant amount that the sag of the melted metal can be controlled properly thereby ensuring a beautiful appearance of the weld bead.
