Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance welding effect by preventing the oxidation of position to be welded by making welding in an inert gas supplied to a gas tube connected to a small sized gun-type welder.
CONSTITUTION: The connection opening 6 attached to the cylindrical top 1a of the resistance welder 1 is provided with the gas tube 5 through which an inert gas, e.g., Ar gas, etc., is sent. When power source switch is turned on, the electrode bar 2 of the welder 1 is pushed against welding base metal, and the switch 7 for electrification is pushed, an inert gas is supplied to the cylindrical top 1a of the welder 1, whereby the air inside the cylindrical top 1a and also in and around the position to be welded is removed and at the same time the curtain of inert gas is formed. In as electric welding using the gun-type resistance welder 1, welding force between welding metals can be more reinforced and also the appearance of weld can be reformed finely because oxidation is prevented. The supply of inert gas is also made automatically by means of a timer.
