Abstract

PURPOSE: To make melting uniform and stable by pulsating the welding current during the generation of the arc in arc stud welding.
CONSTITUTION: The welding current to be supplied during arc generation is pulsed at fixed periods of ≥5Hz, to distribute the arc generated at the end part of the stud uniformly. This causes the stud end and the work to make sufficient fusion. The depth of penetration owing to the pulsating current increases and substantially low heat input may be achieved. Owing to the stability of the arc, blowholes and inclusion of impurities become difficult to occur. In addition, there is no generation of sputter, and the shape of reinforcement of weld becomes uniform with consequently better appearance.
