Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the efficiency of heat transfer, by providing the lower inside surface of container of a heat pipe with a zone whereon a condensed liquid falls easily and by providing the upper inside surface of the container with a zone whereon a wet state based on the condensed liquid is maintained.
CONSTITUTION: A wick 12 made of porous sintered metal is provided on the upper half of the inside surface of the tubular container 11 made of metal such as copper or stainless steel to maintain the wet state based on the condensed liquid of a working medium 13. No wick is provided on the lower half of the inside surface of the container 11 so that the condensed liquid falls easily. The container 1 extends obliquely so that an evaporation part 14 is lower than a condensation part 16. When the evaporation part 14 is heated, the working medium 13 is evaporated to flow to the condensation part 16 as shown by an arrow 15. Most of the condensed medium gravitates to the lower half of the inside surface of the container 11 and smoothly flows down on the lower half of the inside surface as shown by an arrow 17.
