Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the drying out of a heat transfer device by providing a section for storing a condensate of an operation medium in a circulation passage for the condensate, which circulation passage is formed between a condensation section and an evaporation section.
CONSTITUTION: When an evaporation section A is heated, an operation medium 3 is evaporated to flow through a hollow section 9 into a condensation section C where the vapor is condensed. The condensate flows down along the inner surface of a vessel 1 into a storage section 8 where the condensate is temporarily stored. A part of the condensate is introduced into passages 7a, 7b to be supplied into a wick 2, while the remaining part thereof is supplied into the wick 2 directly from the storage section 8. Owing to the passges 7a, 7b, the condensate can be supplied smoothly from the storage section 8 into the evaporation section A. In fact, the condensate can be smoothly supplied into every part of the evaporation section A. Since the evaporation rate of the operation medium 3 is varied depending upon the heat transfer rate so that the rate of supply of condensate from the storage section 8 to the evaporation section A is also varied. However, owing to the provision of the storage section 8, the amount of vapor held in the condensation section C is not increased.
