Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the quantity of refrigerant enclosed in a heat pipe and to permit an excellent heat transmittivity to be obtained even at a large thermal load by providing a refrigerant circulation promoter at the inside end of the condensing portion of a hollow cylindrical heat pipe.
CONSTITUTION: A semicircular projection 13 as a refrigerant circulation promoter is provided at the end of the side of a condensing portion 11 of an operating chamber 12 of a heat pipe 9. When the semicircular projection 13 is located at the upper part of the operating chamber 12, and a refrigerant 14 has not reached near the end of an evaporation portion 10, the heat pipe 9 is rotated so that the position of the semicircular projection 13 is made lower. Consequently, the pushing-out action of the projection 13 and the volume change of the refrigerant 14 portion permit the refrigerant 14 to reach the end of the evaporating portion 10. Even when the heat pipe 9 is rotated to the original position after that, no dry-out occurs because the evaporating portion 10 is wet with the refrigerant 14. Thus, the quantity of the refrigerant enclosed can be reduced, and an excellent heat transmittivity can be obtained even at a large thermal load.
