Abstract
PURPOSE:To maintain the heat transfer efficiency of a heat pipe for a long time period without using of dear materials by providing a gas discharge mechanism by which a non-condensable gas can be discharged from one end of the codensation zone of the heat pipe. CONSTITUTION:A working medium 3 is heated and evaporated in a high-temperature zone, flows to a low-temperature zone, where it condenses and releases heat, and then flows through a wick 4 back to the high-temperature zone due to capillary action. Although the medium 3 is condensable, in long use a non-condensable gas is formed in the heat pipe due to chemical reactions and the like, and the vapor flow causes the gas to collect near the condensation zone, which reduces the heat transfer efficiency of the heat pipe. With a valve 9 kept closed and a valve 8 kept open, the non-condensable gas gradually collects in a gas reservoir 10. With the valve 8 closed and the valve 9 open, the non-condensable gas can be discharged out of the gas reservoir 10.
