Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a heat pipe, which is arranged such that condensed liquid of working medium (heat-exchanging medium) is returned to an evaporating section through a passage formed between a container and a cylindrical member fitted to the inside of said container, whereby it is enabled to lower the manufacturing costs, to promote capillary action, to reduce drag to the flow of condensed liquid, and to minimize interference between vapor flow and condensed liquid flow. CONSTITUTION:A heat pipe of this invention is constituted by a metal container 1 having working medium 2 sealed therein and a wick 3 fitted to the inner wall of said container 1 for promoting capillary action of condensed working medium 2. With such an arrangement, heat received from evaporating section 4 of heat pipe 1 is transferred to condensing section 6 of heat pipe 1 by the cycle of evaporation and condensation of working medium 2. Here, said wick 3 is made of a cylindrical member 9 of a porous material such as sintered metal, and a multiplicity of grooves 10 are formed in the outer surface of cylindrical member 9 along the length thereof. Such a cylindrical member 9 is fitted tightly to the inner wall of container 1, and said grooves 10 are extended from condensing section 6 to evaporating section 4 of heat pipe 1.
