Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A pyrazole derivative of formula I: (R1 and R2 are H, lower alkyl, or aryl groups; R3 is H or lower alkyl group).
EXAMPLE: Ethyl 4-(5-hydroxy-1-phenyl pyrazol-4-yl)-2,4-dioxobutyrate.
USE: Medicines, e.g. antirheumatics, antiallergic agents, and anti-cancer drugs, having immuno adjusting actions.
PROCESS: An acetyl derivative of formula II is reacted with a compound of formula III in a solvent, e.g. benzene, in the presence of a basic catalyst at 30W100°C for 30minW6hr to give the title compound of formula I wherein R3 is a lower alkyl group. Potassium carbonate or hydroxide may be cited as the catalyst. The compound of formula I is present in the form of several kato-enol tautomers. The carboxylic acid derivertive of the compound of formula I wherein R3 is H is obtained by hydrolyzing the ester derivative of formula I wherein R3 is a lower alkyl group with an acid or alkali.
