EXAMPLE: Cis-1-methyl-4-(4-methyl-3-pentenyl) cyclohexanecarboxylic acid methyl ester.
USE: A drug having pharmacological action, e.g., an antiallergic action, improvement action of liver function and metabolism of lipid, etc.
PROCESS: A well-known compound shown by the formula II is dehydrated in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid in an inert solvent to give a compound shown by the formula III, which is oxidized to prepare a compound shown by the formula IV.
