Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A 3,1-benzoxazine derivative of formula I: (X is halogen, lower alkyl, or nitro group; R is phenyl or styryl group which may be substituted by 1W3 hydroxyl or methoxy groups).
EXAMPLE: 2-(3,4-Dimethoxystyryl)-6-iodo-4H-3,1-benzoxazin-4-one.
USE: Useful as medicines having antiallergic, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic actions, and an intermediate for the synthesis of anthranilic acid derivatives having an antiallergic action.
PROCESS: An anthranilic derivative of formula II is heated in acetic anhydride to give the compound of formula I. Alternatively, a 2-methyl-4H-3,1-benzoxazine-4-one derivative of formula III is reacted with an aldehyde of formula IV in the absence of a solvent.
