Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:An anthranilic acid derivative expressed by formula I (X is H or one or two halogens, lower alkyl, lower alkoxyl or nitro groups substituted at optional positions; R is H or lower alkyl).
EXAMPLE: 2-(o-Carboxybenzyl)-4-chloroanthranilic acid.
USE: An anti-inflammatory agent, antirheumatic agent, antiallergic antihemolytic agent, immunological activator, etc.
PROCESS: A compound expressed by formula III is reacted with an equimolar amount of a compound expressed by formula IV in a solvent, e.g. methanol, to give an intermediate benzylidene derivative expressed by formula II, which is without isolation treated with a reducing agent, e.g. NaBH4 or Pd-C, to afford the compound expressed by formula I. The reducing reaction is carried out at room temperature under heating for 1W10hr.
