Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce power loss, by using a pulse commutation circuit comprising capacitors and reactors.
CONSTITUTION: The pulse commutation circuit comprises series circuits consisting of commutation reactors 17, 18 and commutation capacitors 15, 16 for forcedly commutating main thyristors 1∼6; charging thyristors 21∼24 for controlling the charging of the commutation capacitors; commutation thyristors 7∼12 for performing the controlled commutation of the main thyristors; and auxiliary diodes 19, 20 for inversely biasing the main thyristors by voltages which are induced by the commutation reactors at the time of commutation of the main thyristors. The power loss is reduced and the power-factor is improved. Since the charging thyristors are provided at both the terminals of a DC power source, a rectification circuit for the commutation circuit can be directly coupled to the power source without providing a transformer or the like. The entire construction is thus simplified.
