Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase efficiency by connecting a field effect transistor to the secondary winding of a triasformer for DC-DC converter and the like, controlling it by the tertiary winding of the transformer, and performing rectifying operation in order to minimize losses.
CONSTITUTION: A DC-DC converter turns on and off a switching transistor 3, takes out an AC voltage through a transformer 2, rectifies it, and supplies a DC voltage to a load 7. A field effect transistor 5 is connected to the secondary winding of the transformer 2. The signal synchronized with the secondary winding is applied across the gate and source of the transistor from the tertiary winding of the transformer 2, thereby rectifying operation is performed. In this constitution, the losses in the forward direction is minimized by making use of the linear portion of the drain current of the field effect transistor; and since minority carriers are not related to electric conduction, high-speed operation can be obtained; thereby efficiency can be increased.
