Abstract

PURPOSE:To control on or off of the gate turn-off thyristor used for a switching element of a high voltage apparatus with relatively simple configuration by forming an on-off circuit of a gate circuit of a rectifying diodes capacitor and optical switching element. CONSTITUTION:A transistor TR1 is conducted by an on command signal through optical fibers 71, 72, 73 from a switching circuit SWON, the gate turn-off thyristors 11-13 are conducted by the output of a capacitor C2 positively charged by rectification by the outputs from CT transformers 61-63 connected to a high frequency power source 5, and further holding current continues the on state as supplied from the transformers 61-63. Then, the transistor TR2 side is conducted by the off command signal through the optical fibers 72, 74, 76 from the switching circuit SWOFF, the thyristors 11-13 is interrupted by the output from the capacitor C3 negatively charged by rectification similarly, and off-bias is applied thereto, thereby continuing the off state. Thus, the on-off control can be conducted with relatively simple configuration, and high reliability can be provided.
