Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the commutating circuit of a power converter by commutating a current at the minus side of a positive bridge and at the plus side of a negative bridge with one common commutation capacitor.
CONSTITUTION: Auxiliary commutation thyristors RC2, SC2, TC2, RC3, SC3, SC3 and TC3 are provided in a power converter. After these auxiliary commutation thyristors are fired, main thyristors RN2, SN2, RP3, SP3 and TP3 are controlled at their firing timings. Thus, the commutation time and the recharging voltage of the commutation capacitor C are arbitrarily controlled regardless of the variations in the control angle and the commutating current so as to stably commutate the current.
