Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the power fo focusing beam and enhance working efficiency by flowing electric discharge current to the focusing beam of charged particles.
CONSTITUTION: A charged particle beam in a focused state is released into the atmosphere from an electron beam generator 1 consisting of an electron gun and an accelerating-focusing device. Electric discharge current is then applied from the discharge electrode 2 provided around the focusing beam. Then, the discharges, induced by the electron beam, focus and become the beam of a high energy density which radiates and machines the work 4. The utilization of pulses to the discharges enable the degree of concentration to be increased and energy density to be increased further.
