Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled material having high lubricating properties, strength, and forming properties by a method wherein specific proportion of one or both of graphite and metal sulfide such as MoS2 or WS2 is added to metal powder such as reduced iron powder, then molded by compression, and is sintered.
CONSTITUTION: Metal powder such as reduced iron powder is added with 1W7% of one or both of graphite and metal sulfide having lubricating properties, such as MoS2, WS2, or FeS. The mixture is then molded by compression and sintered. The method enhances sliding property, and its strength is increased with increased density. Furthermore, this eliminates the need for stearic acid removing process and as a result, forming property is enhanced.
