Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a light, corrosion-resistant electrode, by forming a silver layer on an aluminum electrode support with an interlayer between them and further forming a ruthenium oxide layer thereon. CONSTITUTION:An aluminum electrode support is coated with a zinc interlayer formed, for example, by zinc substitution method and then a silver plating interlayer formed by silver plating method. The interlayer is then coated with a silver paste composed of silver as major component and glass, followed by sintering. The silver paste layer is 10-20mum in thickness. The silver paste layer is coated with a ruthenium oxide paste composed of ruthemium oxide as major component and glass, followd by sintering as in the silver paste. Before applying the paste, the substrate is preferably heated to remove occluded gas under vacuum.
